born 1980, lives and works in Durban
Shibase’s work focuses on a variety of issues centered around identity (particularly racial identity) and politics within the context of the urbanized environment. He interrogates the often stereotyping and homogenizing notion of an authentic African culture. His work is inspired by daily life encounters in the city.
