Gary Van Wyk
Born 1981, lives and works in Cape Town
Van Wyk’s photographs, drawn from a huge private archive, reveal his interest in street photography, portraiture, and the decisive moment. His photography explores the relationship between private moments and public spaces, and how these two intersect, providing us with a glimpse into his world.
Since the launch of his debut exhibition Private Public in July 2011, Van Wyk had participated in several other exhibitions including Vuleka Art Award. His photographs were selected for the competition exhibition. Van Wyk is currently working on his second solo exhibition which will be held as this gallery in 2012.
